Welcome to the season of transformation. The season of letting go, of finding beauty at the end of life, of faith and trusting in the unseen, of gratitude and wisdom.
This is a ripe time for change. We are at the cusp of the old falling away - and often we can't see what is going to be there when it does. This prompts all sorts of fear-based responses, including clinging and attempts at controlling the uncontrollable. The uncertainty in the world only amplifies our anxiety and fear-based responses.
When things are this crazy, it is helpful to return to basics. Keep in mind what is in your control and bring your love to those places. The adage of "think globally, act locally" is apt. Where is your power focused? To what are you offering your attention? Are you able to find peace, and love, with what is actually steady in the world?
In my personal practice, I have begun to take daily walks in the woods. This has been such a lovely process for me to start my days - sometimes I notice things and receive teachings, but more simply than that, I find I am re-attuned to the energy of the natural world. The oak trees are oak'ing. The ferns are fern'ing. Owls are owl'ing. I find comfort in the lack of urgency of nature. Even though it is immensely complex, there is a simplicity to the natural world, and I am reminded daily of this energy which predates all humans, and will outlive us as a species.
Just this simple act has been a wonderful reset into deeper level of what is "real." The crunch of dried leaves under my feet. The chirping of morning birds. The acorns knocking on hard earth as they fall from branches high above. The sunlight filtering through the canopy of treetops.
When things feel out of control, when we are feeling powerless, it is an act of rebellion and defiance to be still, act simply, and return to the world which holds ours.
To that end, I am so excited at the first couple Earthwise Walks sessions I had this past week - these are sessions in the woods where we tune in and let Nature do the teaching and guiding. Whether it was a frog hopping past, or a moment's pause standing in the sun between two giant elder trees, Nature has shown up to offer her guidance and wisdom. Come explore this for yourself!
Wishing you all a wonderful space of both balance and change, finding the constant self within the variations of life, and trusting that the next unfolding is going to be even better than you can imagine.
